Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs)
Assistive listening devices such as amplified telephones and alarm clocks, doorbell and smoke alarm signalers, and TV listening systems are available for purchase. Our Assistive Listening Device lab allows you to try various products in our office.
Audiometric Evaluations for Adults and Children
The evaluation begins with a visual inspection of each ear canal and eardrum using a video otoscope which magnifies the image of the ear on a color TV monitor. This technology enables us to identify any physical abnormalities that may require medical attention and allows us to produce a high-quality picture that can be sent to your physician. Utilizing state-of-the-art test equipment in a sound-treated booth, the hearing evaluation identifies the degree and type of hearing loss for each ear. The testing measures hearing levels for a variety of frequencies and for speech stimuli, and assesses speech intelligibility. Impedance audiometry (including tympanometry and acoustic reflex testing) is frequently employed to objectively measure the status of the middle ear system. Otoacoustic emissions testing objectively measures the status of the cochlea in the inner ear. Other special auditory tests are performed when necessary. Test results are thoroughly explained and are sent to your physician upon request.
Custom Earmolds
A variety of custom earplugs can be ordered that are specially designed to use while swimming, talking on a cell phone, or for noise protection. Musician earplugs are available for those who need to reduce volume levels yet still hear music clearly and naturally.
Hearing Aid Batteries/Supplies/Accessories
Duracell and Power One batteries are available for purchase in our office or can be mailed to your home. In addition, we stock a variety of hearing aid accessories and cleaners to help maximize the performance of your hearing aids.
Hearing Aid Evaluations and Fittings
We offer a wide selection of state-of-the-art digital hearing instruments to fit your hearing needs. Several styles of hearing aids are available including behind-the-ear, full shell in-the-ear, canal, and the nearly invisible completely-in-canal.
Today's hearing instruments can successfully fit virtually every type of hearing loss. The most advanced digital signal processors sample sound, make millions of calculations per second, and automatically adjust for each listening environment. They have extensive programming capabilities for more precise fittings and they use the latest noise reduction features and multiple microphones for improved speech intelligibility.
Based on the hearing test results and a discussion of your everyday listening environments, the style and specifications for custom hearing aids are determined for your particular needs. Most digital instruments are covered by a two year repair warranty. Extended warranties are available at extra charge. Follow-up consultations, adjustments, and mechanical repairs are free of charge during the warranty period.
Hearing Aid Service and Repair
For maintaining optimal hearing aid performance, cleaning on our hearing aid vacuum cleaning systems is available for a nominal fee. These systems suction debris from the microphone and receiver (speaker) of the hearing instrument while a drying chamber evaporates internal moisture. Periodic cleaning will help to extend the life of your hearing aids.
Repairs on all makes and models of hearing instruments are available. Minor repairs can be performed in the office while more extensive servicing requires factory repair.
Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment
Tinnitus Retraining Therapy
Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) is a method to help patients cope with severe tinnitus or "ringing in the ears". TRT does not "cure" tinnitus but retrains the brain to treat the tinnitus as a non-important sound by using a combination of sound enrichment and directive counseling. The TRT program is custom designed based on the hearing evaluation, tinnitus evaluation, and initial counseling session.
