Professional Staff

Dr. Susan Shalda Forbes, Dr. Laurie Drake, and Dr. Marilou Ruble hold the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. They are licensed in the state of Ohio by the Ohio Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. They are Fellows of the American Academy of Audiology (FAAA) and members of the Ohio Academy of Audiology.  In addition, Dr. Forbes and Dr. Drake are Board Certified in Audiology by the American Board of Audiology.

Forbes Susan Shalda Forbes
Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA



Dr. Forbes earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Audiology and Speech Science and Master of Arts degree in Audiology from Michigan State University, and her doctorate degree in Audiology from Arizona School of Health Sciences at A.T. Still University. She completed her Clinical Fellowship Year at the Toledo Hearing and Speech Center and was supervising audiologist at The Toledo Clinic for eleven years. Dr. Forbes co-founded Hearing Associates, Inc. in 1991 and became sole owner and President in 2001. She has thirty years experience as a clinical audiologist.


Drake Laurie Drake
Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA



Dr. Drake received her Bachelor of Science degree in Audiology from Miami University of Ohio, Master of Science degree in Audiology from Bowling Green State University, and her doctorate degree in Audiology from Salus University.  Her specialized area of interest is tinnitus management and she is trained in Tinnitus Retraining Therapy and Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment for those with severe ringing in the ears. She has over twenty-eight years experience in a variety of settings including hospitals, community speech and hearing clinics, ENT offices, and school systems.


Ruble Marilou Ruble
Au.D., CCC-A, FAAA



Dr. Ruble earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Audiology from Purdue University, Master of Science degree in Audiology from University of Wisconsin, and her doctorate degree in Audiology from Salus University.  She has over thirty years experience in the areas of adult and pediatric diagnostic testing, newborn hearing screenings, classroom intervention for hearing impaired students, hearing aid fittings, and aural rehabilitation.  She has worked extensively with all levels of digital hearing instrument technology.
